Believe it or not, an old plastic bottle filled with water and chlorine is able to create the same amount of light as a 55-watt bulb, which is why their latest project; ‘Liter of Light’ is changing the world.
Beginning in the Philippines with just one bottle light, the movement grew to illuminate 28,000 homes and the lives of 70,000 people, spreading to India, Indonesia and beyond.
MyShelter foundation wants one million bottle lights installed around the world by the end of 2015. There are many ways you can get involved, either as a volunteer, by making a donation or simply spreading the word. You can even learn how to make your own bottle light.
