It’s been all go for both Moore and Moore Creative and the Courtauld Gallery since the beginning of the year. The gallery’s ‘A Dialogue with Nature’ exhibition continues until the 27th April, but they have another, quite different exhibition which we also provided the graphic materials for, called ‘Court and Craft – A Masterpiece from Northern Iraq’.
Rather unusually, the exhibition takes one beautiful and completely unique object from the Courtauld’s collection; a bag made in Northern Iraq around 1300, and explores the origin and cultural context of this extraordinary object. The bag, which in itself is considered to be one of the finest pieces of Islamic metalwork in existence, is shown alongside displays of illuminated manuscripts, ceramics and other luxury crafts, so a must see for anyone with a deeper interest in the phenomenon of accessorising.
‘Court and Craft’ is on at the Courtauld Gallery until the 18th May and tickets can be booked through the gallery website. Also, don’t miss out on ‘Court & Craft Lates’, the first of which is on Thursday 6th March when you can enjoy a night of art, craft and music inspired by the exhibition.
